This year’s National Apprenticeship Week will take place from 8 - 14 February. The annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships will shine a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country.

Our apprenticeship schemes

We launched our first apprenticeship in September 2018, and have since won the title of Apprentice Employer of the Year at the Croydon Business Excellence Awards 2019.

The apprenticeships we offer can be done at various levels from entry level up to a Master’s degree. For our entry level apprenticeships, we look for the right attitude and behaviours rather than work experience.

As well as offering excellent development opportunities, apprenticeships are one of the ways we’re tackling our gender and ethnicity pay gaps, by growing our own diverse talent.

The majority of our apprenticeship schemes result in a professional qualification. As part of our programme, candidates can dedicate 20 per cent of their time to learning, whether that be by attending college, taking part in an online webinar, or working on a specific project.

To support the government's target of three million new apprenticeships by 2020, we aimed to have at least 2.3 per cent of our employees participating in an apprenticeship scheme. We successfully me this target hiring nine apprentices.

Recruiting from our community

“Croydon is the second largest Borough in London and it’s a real chance to start a professional career in something often misunderstood as dull and boring,” said Sharon Godfrey, our Talent Development Manager.

“Although not always aimed at young people, 25% of Croydon’s population is young people and this is ideal for our entry level apprenticeships.”

What do our apprentices have to say?

“It is amazing how much I’ve learned since starting my apprenticeship at the PPF. My customer services and computer skills have improved so much and I’ve found learning about pensions really interesting – it’s a sector I knew very little about.”  – Izzy R, Contact Centre Trainee.

“I was pleased to see a local business was offering such a great apprenticeship and you could say the stars aligned. I believe I wouldn’t have learnt near enough in a university degree on the same subject as I have done through this apprenticeship.” – Ben M, Information Security & Privacy Apprentice.
