The Pension Protection Fund has announced that Lisa McCrory has been appointed as its new Chief Finance Officer (CFO). Lisa will now be responsible for leading the PPF’s actuarial financial management, finance, commercial and internal audit departments and will do this alongside her current role as Chief Actuary.

Oliver Morley, Chief Executive of the PPF commented: “It brings me great pleasure to officially welcome Lisa to our Executive Committee as our new Chief Finance Officer. Our priority is to serve our members and we continue to do this by measuring and managing the risks and uncertainties we face in the future. As we continue to grow, analysing our long-term funding strategy becomes more important. Lisa’s wealth of experience and proven leadership skills puts us in a steadfast position.”

Since her appointment as Chief Actuary in September 2018, Lisa has been responsible for providing actuarial advice to the Board of the Pension Protection Fund. She’s also been responsible for the annual valuation of the fund which is included in the PPF’s Annual Report and Accounts and has played a leading role in enhancing the PPF’s modelling capabilities whilst considering the next evolution of the organisation’s funding strategy. Lisa has also been covering the role of CFO on an interim basis since October 2019.

Lisa said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the PPF’s business support directorate as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary. Having grown my career at the PPF over the past 10 years, I am excited to be able to continue to shape the PPF’s funding strategy and lead my team to ensure the PPF is well-placed to handle any eventualities the future of the pensions’ landscape may bring.”

Now operating at the highest level within her profession, whilst at the same time raising two young children and working part-time, Lisa has been a popular role model at the PPF’s Emerging Women group which has been established to support women in the development phase of their career. She recently led a webinar alongside Stephen Wilcox (Chief Risk Officer) on The Purple Book, and earlier this month appeared on the front cover of Actuarial Post

Lisa joined the PPF in March 2009 as Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) Operations Actuary and in August the following year was appointed as Actuarial Practice Leader. In September 2017 she was given the interim role of Appointed Actuary before taking up the position as Chief Actuary. Prior to joining the PPF she spent five years working as a Scheme Actuary supporting SME clients, winding up and restructuring pension schemes. She holds a degree in Mathematical Physics from The University of Edinburgh.
