Leading and developing a high-performing actuarial team, fostering excellence and innovation
Ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards, including actuarial governance and best practice

The candidate

We are seeking an outstanding actuary with the leadership capability and credibility to operate at the most senior levels of a complex financial institution.

You will bring:
Qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent) with proven experience operating at Executive Committee level
Significant senior actuarial experience within pensions, insurance, asset management or a related financial services environment
Deep expertise in defined benefit pension schemes, funding strategies and long-term financial modelling
A strong understanding of investment principles and risk management frameworks
Experience advising Boards and senior stakeholders on complex actuarial and financial issues
The ability to translate technical analysis into clear, actionable insight

Beyond your technical expertise, you will demonstrate:
Strong strategic thinking and sound judgement
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
A collaborative leadership style, with a commitment to developing others and building high-performing teams
Integrity, independence of thought and a strong sense of professional responsibility

Why join the PPF?

The PPF offers a unique environment in which actuarial expertise sits at the centre of decision-making. As Chief Actuary, you will have the opportunity to influence strategy at scale, working across funding, investment and policy in an organisation with genuine public impact.

This role provides:
A platform to shape the long-term sustainability of a major UK financial institution
