As part of our community impact work, we aim to make a difference by supporting a local charity partner through volunteering and fundraising activities, as well as volunteering with other local charities.
We’re celebrating two years of our partnership with Lives Not Knives, and our colleagues reaching over 500 days of volunteering for a second consecutive year.
Supporting Lives Not Knives
Two years ago, our employees voted for Lives Not Knives, a Croydon-based charity dedicated to preventing youth violence, as our charity partner.
Lives Not Knives offer mentorship and tailored advice to young people in the community to engage, educated and empower them.
As part of our community impact work, our employees have participated in a huge variety of volunteering and fundraising activity to support the charity.
Last summer, Lives Not Knives held its Summer Engage Programme, which gave the young people they support the opportunity to enjoy engaging and empowering activities to create lasting memories. Our employees volunteered to play football, netball and board games with the young people, as part of the programme.
To fundraise for the charity, our colleagues played a football match against The Pensions Regulator, held quiz nights, bake sales and a Christmas jumper day. Our investment team also held a successful pie-throwing event to raise money.
We’ve now come to the end of our partnership with Lives Not Knives and are proud that our colleagues have raised over £5,000 over the last two years.
“The PPF has been extraordinary in supporting our charity's mission," said Eliza Rebeiro, CEO, at Lives Not Knives. “There have been so many events where the PPF has really worked hard to raise money for us. You’ve fundraised to make these young people’s lives better.”
500 days of volunteering
All our employees have five paid volunteering days each year. We’re proud that this year we’ve maintained our volunteering days and have achieved over 500 days for a second consecutive year.
“Our community impact work is an important part of our sustainability strategy, and I’m delighted that the combined efforts of people across the organisation has seen us maintain our previous level of volunteering at over 500 days this year,” said Sharon Godfrey, our Head of Organisational Development.
“It's wonderful that our colleagues have supported the important work of our charity partner Lives Not Knives - and are keen to give back to their community. We’re proud to have been able to support a charity that has supported and empowered young people in Croydon and London.”
